The Truth Behind The Murder Of Elizabeth Peers
Toxteth Cemetery situated here in Liverpool is a mass burial ground opened in 1856 it is
still used for internments till this day. Now one of its more famous alleged sightings is that of a young girl named Elizabeth
Peers. She is frequently seen scuttling down the back alleys of Smithdown Road
as well as the cemetery itself. Dressed simply in a little
cloak Again like William MacKenzie, William Huskisson and countless others, there are many a falsified and uneducated story that have been told about how young Elizabeth
came to meet her untimely demise. This is the sad and painful truth behind her story.
On Saturday 28th October 1905 just 3 days prior to Halloween ten year old Elizabeth
Peers left her abode in Wendell Street, Liverpool to go on an errand for her parents. Sadly the youngster was never to return home alive. The Child obeyed the orders of collecting a simple errand for her mother and left her home. This is such a sad tale of a young Girl neglected by her parents who by all accounts
put alcohol before the youth. It was not till the following day that her
distorted body was found dumped on the cold hard floor in an entry situated at
the back of Cullen Street in Liverpool. Cullen street is roughly a 3 minute walk
from Wendell Street just 0.2 of a mile yet it was somewhere that Elizabeth who
frequently played in the streets surrounding her home was to be was to be found
on the hard floor, her body the victim of a sexual and violent cowardly
attack.
The conclusion was made by the Coroner that the child had been ‘Suffocated’
‘Outraged’ and ‘Murdered’ and that the unspeakable act was committed shortly
after the child left her home, so short in fact that the coroner surmised the
attack happened minutes rather than hours after the girl had left the
house.
It transpired how that the night in question: Elizabeth’s parents were engaged in a
drunken quarrel and at 12.30am young Elizabeth was sent to the local shop for
‘Some Pork’ The parents who were both alcoholics did not make any effort at all
to find young Elizabeth, on the night she disappeared they come to the quick
conclusion that she must have bumped in to a relative and decided to stay at
their home, in fact they were not aware of Elizabeth’s whereabouts’ until the
Sunday afternoon. It was only then they were informed that the lifeless body of
their Daughter had been found in an alleyway and that her corpse was on the way
to the mortuary. It’s such a tragic life looking in from the outside I can only
surmise that little Elizabeth deserved a better up bringing than the one she was
given. It wasn’t until the inquest when the coroner on the case described the
conditions f the Peers home as ‘Terrible’. It was concluded at the inquest that
the verdict of ‘wilful murder against some persons/person’ was the only decision
that the coroner could rule.
The verdict was not the only judgement
to be brought; the parents of Elizabeth were also severely reprimanded for their
‘Unnatural conduct’ this decision came at the request of the jury. There
was however one piece of evidence that was delivered,
the man in question who gave a testimony was Mr George amos Wolstenholme; a
labourer from south Liverpool, he stated how on the night of 27th
October; he witnessed a
dishevelled man running from the alleyway on Cullen Street the same alleyway
where the molested girl’s body was eventually found, the man was said to be
‘perspiring’ and ‘his clothes looked disarranged’ surely Mr wolstenholme s’
testimony would prove vital in trying to find the killer? Wolsteholme continued
to give evidence. Yet despite his claims that would have surely proved crucial
in the case judge came to a unusual decision and told
the jury that regrettably no reliance could be placed on Mr wolsteholme’s
evidence. I cannot find a reason why the judge came to his conclusion by perhaps
a man whom was returning home from the local public house may have been slightly
intoxicated and in being so I can only conclude that his ‘Evidence’ would have
been either corrupted or perhaps misleading in such a way that valuable
resources and police time may have been compromised with unreliable
evidence.
During the heart breaking coroner’s case it was adjourned twice in order to give time to the constabulary in turn helping
them find who the sick and twisted man was that committed this hideous crime.
Sadly no one was ever charged for the rape and murder of 10 year old Elizabeth
On the day of her funeral over 30,000 people lined the streets, with almost every
home on her final procession closing their curtains as a mark of respect for the
deceased, it was reported in the local press how mass uncontrollable weeping swept
the crowds as the funeral cortege passed. The cortege was headed by three
uniformed horse mounted police men followed a large number of officers and then
finally followed by little Elizabeth with the three hearses filled with loved
ones behind her. The brutal murder hit Liverpool hard and in mass unity the City
came together to mourn this tragic loss. The fact that no justice was ever given
to the perpetrator has made it even more
hideous.
I hope that Elizabeth can now be left in
peace. If like me you would like to pay your respects to her. She is laying in
eternal slumber in Toxteth Park Cemetery

Little Grace
St James Cemetery
Liverpool
Many an account has been told about how this deprived diminutive girl became entombed in the wall of St James Gardens. It is said that a well to do businessman based in Liverpool fathered an illegitimate child to his mistress and he then paid his
mistress to look after their bastard child but upon hearing of their daughters
demise from fever, he came down to St James gardens in the cloak of night and
forcefully pulled away at the brick work before placing the poor child into the
wall and filling it back in. It is said that the entrepreneur was to ashamed of
his sordid little secret being revealed that he entombed her without second
thought. The only thing that remains of Gracie is an unnerving carving in the
old quarry’s wall stating just simply ‘LITTLE GRACE’ I find this a rather
disconsolate story. I took it upon myself to further look in to the sad tale and
maybe shed some light on what happened and optimistically hoping to find some
closure for Gracie. I looked into the archives at the magnificent Central library In Liverpool,
sifting through the burial records for St James Cemetery I found no recollection
of any burial fitting Gracie’s description. I suppose I was overly optimistic
thinking that I could find anything the conventional way. I asked various elders
of the city of Liverpool for their recollection of maybe being sat down as a
child in the early 1900’s and the tale of Little Grace being related to them by
maybe there Dad or Granddad. I looked at various scenarios and played them out
on paper as well as in my head; this was not proving to be a fruitful
expedition. One night myself and my team retired to a fine public house based in the south of
Liverpool, we ordered a beer and decided to relax for the remainder of the
evening after spending the best part of 5 hours looking for some inkling or sign
in St James. We took our seat yet curiosity got the better of me and I decided to ask a few of
the older locals in the pub about Little Gracie and was told this account by a
number of elders who related the tale to me as
gospel.
They told me the following story: Little Gracie was born to an underprivileged family in central Liverpool. She enjoyed a happy childhood although her parents were poor they provided her with all the
love that every child needs. She enjoyed a short but happy life at a tender age
he was overcome with fever as children did in the 1800’s but regrettably she
passed on leaving a loving family and inconsolable parents. It was decided that
they wanted their beloved daughter to be buried in St James Cemetery but only
one thing was stopping them and that was finances, thinking they were doing the
right thing by their offspring they planned out how they would get their
wish. It was decided that they would elope to St James’s Cemetery and bury the girl for
themselves. Looking back at St James’s in the 1800’s it was a busy place indeed
up to 10 bodies a where laid in to their eternal slumber. I can only conclude
that Gracie’s parents not wanting to disturb the other souls that were laid to
rest there decided to place her into the old quarry works. This was not uncommon
as many a person was placed behind the brick work in their own or family vaults.
If you go down to St James’s on any given day you can see for yourself the
various vaults that are all around the gardens. Gracie’s
parents worked away until the slabs became loose and then placed the poor child
into her final resting place, the slabs where put back into place and ‘LITTLE
GRACIE’ was carved on to the corner of one of the blocks.
I firmly believe that the sad tale does not end here. Many a reported sighting has
are noted on how various people have seen a young girl with stunning blond hair
in a white burial shroud standing by where Gracie is laid to rest. I wanted to
see if I could get in contact with the girl. I decided in the autumn of 2013 to
hold an investigation and I was stunned at the results I received. We ventured
down to the old cemetery with our specialist equipment including EMF Meters yet
it was one of our groups Buddhist pendulums that gave us the remarkable answers
I am about to reveal. We asked the pendulum a series of trivial questions asking it to answer yes or no
to simple questions such as is our name correct. After the formalities we asked
if ‘LITTLE GRACE’ was present to which the pendulum signalled yes, we then
progressed to ask her how old she is and after counting up the pendulum stopped
at 4 and the member of the group signalled that the energy was coming through
strong. We then proceeded to ask if she had unfinished business she had to do to
which the pendulum signalled yes again. Our
entire group at this moment took on a rather sad feeling I proceeded to ask if
she was at rest and in no uncertain motion the pendulum indicated no, this made
us all take a step back. I did not want to upset her anymore and progressed to my final question which was:
is Gracie unhappy because she wants to be laid to rest in the consecrated
ground? The reply was a yes a very strong yes, at that point I told Gracie that
we mean her no harm and asked her to rest in
peace. I did not want to upset her as clearly she was upset enough. I believe we should
treat spirits as we treat others with the upmost respect and dignity. This left
me firmly believing that she may never rest until she is put in to the ground.
If you go down to St James’s and pass her please take a minute to remember
her.
Many a lie has been told about how this poor child was entombed behind this wall. We went with our Psychic and made contact with her. Click the link below to see the video.

Spring Heeled Jack
Everton
Liverpool
The Victorian era indeed was a very dark time for millions of people in our fair land.
yet undeniably it was one man struck terror in to the hearts of thousands across Liverpool and the whole of the UK….
Spring Heeled Jack! This is one of our favorite gentlemen here at Lionheart
Let us shed some light on this bizarre and charismatic fellow.
Jack was seen all dozens of areas in the 1800’s but in the 1880’s he was at his magnificent best!
Jack is depicted as having pointed ears, flashing, fireball eyes and even horns! Some believed it was old Nick himself others believed he was no more than a well to do prankster.
Jack was a legend of his time seen prominently in 1880’s Black country one report goes that: Jack was seen jumping from the roof of a place named locally as the Old Cross Inn onto a roof of a butchers shop. This sort of reports only fired up the panic these sighting where causing.
Jack was first seen on London in 1837 the first encounter was reported to local officers and in that report it outlined how several witnesses seen Jack jump over a 2.7m wall fleeing his pursuers emitting demonic laughter
Nearly 70 years had passed before ‘Auld Jack’ decided to grace us with his presence and his sighting in Liverpool was to be his ‘swansong’ and final appearance…
In 1904 Jack appeared to ‘His public’ just a stone’s throw away from where we now sit today. Seen leaping from building to building on Gambier Terrace
Yet it was in Everton where he ‘Waved off his adoring fans’ so to speak… There is a Church call St. Francais Xavier’s which is situated just off Netherfield Road, By where Hope Uni now stands on Shaw St. Jack was seen by ‘Dozens’ of witnesses viewed the inexplicable sight of Jack clambering up the steeple of what was the country’s largest Roman Catholic congregations parish.
It was reported how this ‘Creature’ scrambled up the steeple with consummate ease and upon reaching the summit he hung on as desperate onlookers fled in terror. He then inexplicably launched himself off on to Sailsbury Street. Witnesses’ scrambled to see the damaged caused by his apparent ‘Suicide’ but on arriving Jack was nowhere to be seen.
So who was he? A Philanthropist? A Crazed Demon? So how I doubt we will ever find out
Ghosts have been reported all through history. The first ever written report dates back to the first century, this was testified by Roman author and statesman Pliny the younger. In his account he states how during life in the Roman Empire he encountered a spectre of an old man with a long beard, rattling chains in his home in Athens
